Sustainable agriculture and rural development in terms of the Republic of Serbia strategic goals

Had took place a lecture within the project 46006 “Sustainable agriculture and rural development in terms of the Republic of Serbia strategic goals' implementation within Danube region” – subproject Urban and peri-urban agriculture in metropolitan area of Belgrade – Novi Sad

On 10.10.2011, at 10h, in the state-room of the Secondary Food-agricultural School “Stevan Petrovic-Brile” in Ruma, had took place a lecture within the project 46006 “Sustainable agriculture and rural development in terms of the Republic of Serbia strategic goals' implementation within Danube region” – subproject Urban and peri-urban agriculture in metropolitan area of Belgrade – Novi Sad. With lecture under the title “Sustainable agriculture with special accent on organic production – Ruma 2011” was created a thematic area, which encircled the municipalities Irig, Sremski Karlovci, Indjija, Ruma, and up-to-date themes regarding sustainable agriculture, multifunctional agriculture and production technology of some plant species.
 
Professor Emeritus Branka Lazic (Faculty of Agriculture, Novi Sad) had a welcome speech and took interactive part in solving the problems. She made a review in her lecture on current Master plan of Fruska Gora sustainable development. The welcome speech was supported also by Milan Prostran, eng., from the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Julkica Simic, eng., Director of the Department for Rural Development and Agricultural Extension Service of AP Vojvodina. The participants were also greeted by Sandra Kljestanovic, eng., consultant from PSS OJ Ruma and Petar Marinkovic, School Director. The lecturer on this meeting was also Vladimir Filipovic, PhD, researcher from the institute “Tamis”. The lecture was organized by the institute “Tamis” and PSS “Ruma” and lectures are planned to be in Pancevo, Selenca, Belgrade and Novi Sad, too, during October and November. During these lectures, all present agricultural producers were able to fulfill surveys about knowing and practicing the organic production. (download here)
The representatives of the Institute of Agricultural Economics had also took part in the lecture: Jonel Subic, PhD, Assistant Director in the Institute of Agricultural Economics and the sub-project manager, and the theme was “Methods for evaluation of ecological sustainability on agricultural husbandries”, as well as Vesna Parausic, M.A., “Significance of forming associations and cooperatives.”

The lecture was opened for all primary producers, who participate directly in organic production system and the institutions which deal with these problems: Faculty of Agriculture from Belgrade, Faculty of Economics from Subotica, Faculty of Biofarming from Backa Topola, Institute of Applying Science in Agriculture from Belgrade, Faculty of Agriculture from Novi Sad, Institute of Crop Science from Novi Sad, Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Provincial Secretariat of Agriculture, Water Economy and Forestry, The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Agricultural Extension Service of OJ PSS “Ruma”, Green Network of Vojvodina, Organic Control System etc.
