Project idea: Development of Innovative Solutions in the Field of Smart Land Management in Agriculture

Project is financed by:  GEF, UNDP and Ministry of Environmental Protection of RS Lead project partner: Institute Mihajlo Pupin - Belgrade Project partners: Institute of agricultural economics Belgrade and family agricultural holding Nikola Lončar Project is supported by: municipality of Stara Pazova The project promotes a multidisciplinary approach to smart and economically sustainable use of agricultural land by application of innovative technical solution that completely replaces the use of fossil fuels with renewable energy sources (solar energy and wind power). The project will implement at the experimental parcel (10 ha) of the selected agricultural holding a unique innovative system for the adequate remote control management under available natural resources (land, water and energy). The project idea was selected within the group of 111 received applications as the most successful example of local idea within the project call Climate Smart Urban Development Challenge under the project framework Local Development Resilient to Climate Change sponsored by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, GEF and UNDP. On 1st August 2018, at the experimental parcel of the family agricultural holding Nikola Lončar in Belegiš was made a promotive event for the representatives of media, project sponsors and project partners. Event was focused to promotion of successfully installed solar power plant, as well as to implementation of soil moisture sensors that should be integrated into the climate-smart remote land and natural resources management system.
